Key Labor Law Protections
Employment Contract
Your contract must be in writing and specify salary, job title, working hours, and benefits. Keep a copy at all times.
Salary Protection
Employers must pay salaries on time through approved banking channels. Delays beyond 10 days may be reported.
Working Hours
Standard: 8 hours/day, 48 hours/week. Overtime must be compensated at 125-150% of regular pay.
Annual Leave
Minimum 30 days paid annual leave after 1 year of service. Pro-rated for shorter periods.
Medical Care
Employer must provide health insurance or medical care as per labor law requirements.
Accommodation
Employer must provide suitable accommodation or housing allowance as per contract.
What Employers Cannot Do
- Withhold your passport (illegal in most Gulf countries)
- Force you to work without proper visa/work permit
- Delay salary payments beyond legal limits
- Terminate employment without notice or valid reason
- Deny medical treatment in emergencies
- Change contract terms without your written consent
