1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ArabLanka.com ("the Platform", "we", "us", "our"), creating an account, posting content, or browsing any part of this website, you ("User", "you") unconditionally agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must immediately stop using the Platform. Continued use after any modification to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. About ArabLanka

ArabLanka.com is a community platform designed for Sri Lankans living and working in Gulf countries. The Platform provides features including community chat, job postings, Q&A forums, buy & sell classifieds, matrimony classifieds, Gulf country guides, and news aggregation.

ArabLanka is a platform and intermediary only. We do not employ any users, verify the accuracy of any listings or profiles, act as a recruitment agency, matrimony broker, real-estate agent, or financial adviser, and we are not a party to any transaction, introduction, or agreement made between users.

3. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or use any feature of this Platform.
• By registering, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and legally capable of entering into binding agreements.
• We reserve the right to terminate accounts of users found to be under 18 years of age without notice.
• Users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of their country of residence.

4. User Accounts

4.1 Registration

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering. You must promptly update your account information if it changes. Providing false or misleading information is grounds for immediate account termination.

4.2 Account Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at [email protected] of any unauthorised use of your account. We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to protect your credentials.

4.3 One Account Per Person

Each individual may maintain only one active account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans or posting limits is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent termination of all associated accounts.

4.4 Account Termination

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend or permanently terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including but not limited to breach of these Terms, harmful conduct, or actions that damage the reputation of the Platform or its users.

5. User-Generated Content

5.1 Your Responsibility

You are solely and exclusively responsible for all content you post, publish, upload, or share on the Platform ("User Content"), including job listings, matrimony profiles, buy & sell listings, chat messages, Q&A posts, and any photographs or documents. ArabLanka does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of any User Content.

5.2 Licence to ArabLanka

By submitting User Content, you grant ArabLanka a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, display, distribute, modify, and promote that content in connection with the operation and promotion of the Platform. You represent that you have all necessary rights to grant this licence.

5.3 Content Standards

All User Content must be lawful, accurate, and not misleading. You must not post content that is defamatory, fraudulent, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or that infringes any third-party rights.

6. Matrimony Services

6.1 Platform Role Only

ArabLanka provides a classified advertisement board for matrimony profiles. We are not a matrimonial agency, matchmaking service, marriage bureau, or broker. We do not introduce parties, facilitate meetings, or recommend any specific profile. Any connection made between users through the matrimony section is entirely the responsibility of the users involved.

6.2 No Verification of Profiles

We do not verify the identity, background, qualifications, employment, family details, photographs, or any other information provided in matrimony profiles. All information is self-reported or submitted by third-party brokers. Users must independently verify all details before proceeding with any matrimonial inquiry or commitment.

6.3 Third-Party Brokers

Profiles may be submitted by matrimony brokers or agencies on behalf of individuals. ArabLanka is not responsible for the conduct, representations, or fees charged by any third-party broker. Any dispute between a user and a broker is strictly between those parties.

6.4 No Liability for Outcomes

ArabLanka bears absolutely no responsibility for the outcome of any matrimonial introduction, including but not limited to fraud, misrepresentation, emotional harm, financial loss, failed marriages, or any other consequence arising from contact initiated through the Platform.

6.5 Photo Privacy

Photographs submitted with matrimony profiles are displayed only to registered, logged-in members as a privacy measure. However, once you share contact details or photos with another user, ArabLanka has no control over how that information is used. You share personal information at your own risk.

6.6 User Due Diligence

Users are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence, meet in safe public places, involve trusted family members, and take all reasonable precautions before proceeding with any matrimonial engagement. ArabLanka expressly disclaims all liability for any harm arising from failure to exercise due diligence.

7. Jobs & Employment Listings

7.1 Not a Recruitment Agency

ArabLanka is not a licensed recruitment agency or employment agent. Job listings are posted by individual users and are not vetted, verified, or endorsed by us. We make no guarantee regarding the authenticity, legality, or availability of any job listed on the Platform.

7.2 User Responsibility

Employers are solely responsible for ensuring their job listings comply with all applicable labour laws and visa regulations. Job seekers are responsible for verifying any job offer independently before paying any fees, travelling, or signing any contract. ArabLanka is never liable for fraudulent job postings or employment disputes.

7.3 Recruitment Fraud Warning

Legitimate employers never ask for payment upfront. If a job listing requests money, report it to [email protected] and contact relevant authorities.

8. Buy & Sell Classifieds

ArabLanka provides a classified advertising board and is not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or availability of any item listed. All sales are strictly between the buyer and seller. ArabLanka bears no responsibility for disputes, non-delivery, faulty goods, fraud, or any other issue arising from a buy/sell transaction.

Users are advised to inspect items before payment, meet in public places, and use secure payment methods. ArabLanka expressly disclaims all liability for any loss arising from transactions conducted through the Platform.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content of any kind
• Impersonate any person, organisation, or entity
• Harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against any user
• Post spam, unsolicited advertisements, or pyramid schemes
• Collect personal data of other users without their consent
• Attempt to hack, scrape, overload, or disrupt the Platform
• Upload malware, viruses, or any malicious code
• Post content that violates any applicable law, including laws of Sri Lanka and the relevant Gulf country
• Use the Platform for any purpose that competes with ArabLanka without prior written consent
• Create matrimony profiles for minors or post content that sexualises minors in any way
• Charge users any fee for an introduction facilitated through the Platform without registering as a broker and disclosing this

Violation of any prohibition may result in immediate account termination, removal of content, and referral to appropriate legal authorities.

10. Moderation & Content Removal

ArabLanka reserves the right — but is under no obligation — to review, approve, edit, or remove any User Content at any time, at our sole discretion, without notice. All postings are subject to a moderation queue before public display. Approval does not constitute endorsement of the content.

We are not liable to any user for the removal of their content. If you believe your content was removed in error, contact [email protected].

We comply with valid legal requests for content removal or user data disclosure from competent authorities.

11. Intellectual Property

All content, design, logos, trademarks, source code, and features of ArabLanka.com that are not User Content are the exclusive property of ArabLanka and its licensors, protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

The name ArabLanka and the ArabLanka logo are trademarks of the Platform owner. Unauthorised use is prohibited.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

• Fitness for a particular purpose or merchantability
• Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content on the Platform
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Platform
• Freedom from viruses or malicious code
• Results obtained from use of the Platform

We do not warrant that any matrimony introduction, job application, or commercial transaction conducted through the Platform will be successful or satisfactory.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ArabLanka, its owner, operators, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any damages whatsoever arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Platform, including but not limited to:

• Direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity
• Personal injury or property damage
• Damages resulting from any matrimonial introduction or relationship
• Damages resulting from fraudulent job offers or employment disputes
• Damages resulting from buy/sell transactions gone wrong
• Damages resulting from reliance on any content posted by another user
• Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data
• Conduct or content of any third party on the Platform

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed USD 100 (one hundred US dollars).

14. Indemnification

You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ArabLanka, its owner, operators, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your use of the Platform or any feature thereof
• Any User Content you post, including any claim that it infringes third-party rights
• Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law
• Any transaction, introduction, or agreement you enter into with another user
• Any dispute between you and another user, employer, broker, buyer, or seller

15. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Platform you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall first be attempted to be resolved by good-faith negotiation. Failing that, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.

If you are a resident of a Gulf country, you acknowledge that local laws may also apply and you are responsible for compliance with those laws.

17. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Where changes are material, we may notify registered users by email or a site notice. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. If you do not agree with a modification, you must stop using the Platform and may request account deletion by contacting us.
