Overview
Kuwait is a small but wealthy sovereign state at the tip of the Arabian Gulf, bordered by Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Despite its small size (smaller than New Jersey), Kuwait has one of the world's highest per capita incomes, powered entirely by vast oil reserves.
KUWAIT CITY
Kuwait City is the capital and by far the largest city, containing most of the country's population and economic activity. It features a blend of ultra-modern glass towers and traditional souks. The famous Kuwait Towers along the Corniche are iconic landmarks.
ECONOMY
Kuwait's economy is almost entirely dependent on oil. Oil accounts for 90%+ of government revenue. The Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) manages one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds. Economic diversification efforts are ongoing.
POLITICAL SITUATION
Kuwait has a constitutional monarchy. The country has historically been politically stable though it experiences internal political debates. Expatriates are not involved in politics.
