Sinhala & Tamil New Year Celebration — Jeddah 2025

A major community Avurudu celebration in Jeddah drawing over 800 Sri Lankans and family members of diverse faiths and backgrounds. The day began with the traditional oil lamp lighting and milk-boiling ceremony, followed by Avurudu food, live raban pada (traditional drumming), and performances by Sri Lankan artists Priyantha Seneviratne and Piyumi Botheju. Included the debut of the Avurudu Kumara & Kumariya (New Year Prince and Princess) contest, traditional games, and an evening concert by the C7 Band of Jeddah. Prizes included return air tickets to Sri Lanka courtesy Al Jazeera Airline.
