WORK CULTURE IN QATAR WORKING HOURS • Private sector: Max 48 hrs/week • Outdoor work ban: June–September, 10AM–3:30PM (violation is a criminal offense for employers) • This is strictly enforced to protect workers in construction RAMADAN • Working hours reduced by 2 hours • Fasting during daylight observed by Muslims • Non-Muslims: Don't eat/drink publicly during fasting hours • Good time to build relationships — Iftar dinners are common invitations DRESS CODE • Business offices: Smart casual to formal • Qatar Foundation / Msheireb: Conservative dress expected • Malls and public spaces: Modest dress (no shorts or sleeveless for men; no revealing dress for women) • Education City: International, more relaxed MULTICULTURAL ENVIRONMENT Qatar has over 2 million expats (88% of population).
