Good affordable apartments in Abu Dhabi for a teacher? Which areas to look?
OtherI'm starting as a teacher at a school in Abu Dhabi island in September. My school provides a housing allowance of AED 2,500/month. Is this enough? Where should I look for apartments? I want to be close to a Sri Lankan community and ideally near a temple or Sri Lankan restaurant.

Welcome to Abu Dhabi! I'm a nurse here and have lots of teacher friends. AED 2,500 is a decent allowance for Abu Dhabi, especially if you're flexible on location.
BEST AREAS FOR TEACHERS ON YOUR BUDGET:
1. Tourist Club Area (TCA) / Al Zahiyah: Central, AED 2,200–3,500 for studio/1BR. Walking distance to corniche.
2. Mussafah: Industrial-ish area but VERY affordable. 1BR AED 1,800–2,800. Many Sri Lankans, Indian restaurants, good bus links.
3. Al Ain Road / Al Shamkha: Budget area, AED 1,500–2,500. Farther but cheap.
FOR SRI LANKAN COMMUNITY:
• Mussafah has largest Sri Lankan population in Abu Dhabi
• Sri Lankan restaurants: Tourist Club Area has several (Pagoda, Lanka Hotel)
• Sri Lankan Buddhist temple: Al Mushrif area (Embassy area) — weekly events
TIP: With AED 2,500 allowance, look for a studio at AED 2,200-2,500 and save the little extra. Don't spend more than your allowance or you're subsidizing the school.
Use Dubizzle.com and Property Finder for apartment search. Filter to Abu Dhabi, sort by price ascending.
