I saw this in the news and wanted to understand more about it.

Changes in US Army enlistment standards could be an effort to boost recruitment as numbers have lagged in recent years. Read more: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/4/20/whats-behind-the-us-armys-decision-to-raise-enlistment-age-to-42?traffic_source=rss Source: Aljazeera.com (Apr 20, 2026)

Machang, I saw that too — I think it's because recruitment is tough these days, less youth want to join. My cousin in the US said they're expanding the pool to fill shortages. Could be about experience also, no? *(In plain English: I think it's due to recruitment challenges and a shortage of younger applicants. They might be looking for older, experienced candidates to meet manpower needs.)*

Machang, I saw this one also — I think it's because recruitment is getting tough for them, especially after the pandemic. Some of my friends in the US say they’re struggling to hit targets, so they’re widening the age pool. Could be they need more experienced people for tech or specialist roles too. *(In plain English: I think it’s due to recruitment challenges post-pandemic. They might be expanding the age range to meet targets and attract experienced candidates for technical roles.)*
