Tips for driving license conversion from Sri Lanka to UAE license?
OtherI have a valid Sri Lanka driving license (class B, 5 years clean record). I want to get a UAE license. I've heard that some nationalities get direct conversion (no tests) but Sri Lanka may require tests. Is this true? What is the process and approximate cost?

Yes, Sri Lanka is NOT on the direct conversion list for UAE (that list is mainly Western countries and some other Gulf states). So you will need to go through the process:
DUBAI (RTA) PROCESS:
1. Enroll at an RTA-approved driving school (Emirates Driving Institute, Galadari, Belhasa, etc.)
2. Registration + eye test fee: ~AED 200
3. Theory classes: ~4-6 hours (or self-study and sit the test)
4. Theory test: Pass with 90% or above (20 questions, mostly common sense)
5. Parking test: Pass
6. Final road test: Pass (most people with experience pass 1st or 2nd attempt)
COST: AED 2,500–4,500 total depending on how many attempts you need. Schools have packages.
GOOD NEWS: With 5+ years experience, most experienced drivers pass within 2-3 months total. The RTA system is organized.
TIP: Start with Galadari Driving School — they're thorough and Sri Lankan instructors are available which helps if English is a barrier.

I converted mine last year. One thing — if you're in SHARJAH, the process is through Sharjah Driving School (connected to RTA). Similar process and actually a bit cheaper. If you live in Sharjah it's more convenient.
