78th Sri Lanka Independence Day — Abu Dhabi 2026

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi celebrated the 78th Independence Day with a morning ceremony and evening diplomatic reception at the Sheraton Hotel, Abu Dhabi. The ceremony featured national flag hoisting, national anthem in Sinhala and Tamil sung by children from Daham Pasala, lighting of the oil lamp, blessings from the four major religions, and readings from the President and Prime Minister. The evening reception welcomed over 150 guests including UAE Assistant Minister H.E. Sultan Al Shamsi and two visiting Sri Lankan ministers. Traditional dance performances and Sri Lankan cuisine featured at both events.
