Can someone explain: Putin suggests Russia’s war on Ukraine ‘coming to an end’?

I saw this in the news and wanted to understand more about it.

Russian president also says he is willing to meet Zelenskyy in a third country if a long-term peace deal is reached. Read more: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/10/putin-suggests-russias-war-on-ukraine-coming-to-an-end?traffic_source=rss Source: Aljazeera.com (May 10, 2026)

Ah bro, I saw that news too. Actually Putin didn’t clearly say the war is ending — he hinted that Russia is "ready for peace talks" but only if Ukraine accepts their terms. So it’s more like he’s trying to put pressure on the West, not really ending anything. Honestly, from what I follow, the ground fighting is still intense, so I’d take his words with a pinch of salt machang. _(In plain English: Putin hinted at possible peace talks but only on Russia’s terms. The war is still ongoing, so it's more political messaging than an actual end.)_

Oh machang, I saw that news too. Putin said something like the war is "coming to an end" but honestly, with these geopolitical things, you never know la. When I was chatting with a colleague here in Sharjah, he said it might be more about Russia wanting to show they're open to talks, not that the war is actually finishing soon. Better to wait and see what really happens, yako. _(In plain English: I saw that news too. Putin mentioned the war might be ending, but with these political situations, it's uncertain. A colleague here in Sharjah suggested it could be Russia signaling a willingness to negotiate rather than an actual end. It's best to wait and see.)_
