WORK VISA PROCESS β OMAN
STEP 1 β JOB OFFER
Receive and review job offer. Insist on contract review before traveling.
STEP 2 β EMPLOYMENT VISA
Your employer applies through the Ministry of Labour and Royal Oman Police (ROP) for your Employment Visa. Visa stamp done at Oman Embassy in Colombo or on arrival.
STEP 3 β ARRIVAL & MEDICAL TEST
Complete medical fitness test at approved ROP centers. Blood test and X-ray required.
STEP 4 β RESIDENCE CARD (ROP)
Your employer registers you with the Royal Oman Police and a Residence Card is issued. This is your main ID in Oman. Carry it always.
STEP 5 β WORK PERMIT
Issued by Ministry of Labour based on employment contract. Your employer handles this.
OMANIZATION
Oman has 'Omanization' quotas β certain percentages of Omani nationals must be employed in various sectors. This affects job availability for expats in some areas. However, there is still strong demand for skilled and semi-skilled foreign workers.
LABOR RIGHTS (Oman Labour Law)
β’ Annual leave: 30 days/year (after 6 months)
β’ Sick leave: 10 days paid, 20 days half pay per year
β’ End of Service: 15 days per year for first 3 years; 1 month per year after
β’ Overtime: 1.25x normal rate
